Geography

 

Vietnam is approximately 330,000 km² in area, makuing it almost the size of Germany. The distance from the extreme north to the far south is 4,600 km and the Vietnamese coastline (without islands) is 3,400 km.

Northern Vietnam is generally quite moutainous and also includes the large and flat Red River Delta area. In the south, the Mekong delta, covering about 40,000 km² is low-lying and wet with many canals and rivers.

Vietnam has a very large coastline, slightly larger than Thailand’s and has many beautiful beaches along its length.
