Welcome to the October edition of our Asia World newsletter.

Asia World is dedicated to promoting eco-friendly tourism and we are happy to advise that more of the elephant parks in Thailand are phasing out elephant riding. For example the Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai will now only offer elephant viewing and bathing, with no riding.

Sadly we have to announce the closing indefinitely of famous ‘Maya Bay’ on Phi-Phi Island, where the movie ‘The Beach’ was filmed. This is due to the negative effects from mass-tourism to the local eco-structure.

Our partner ‘Pandaw Cruises’ are offering new cruise options with a 14 night journey from Laos to China. This adventure on Pandaw’s locally built vessels take in Luang Prabang, Chiang Saen and Jinghong. Please contact Asia World for prices and more details.

Lastly, Thailand recently hosted an international ‘Moto GP’ event in Burilam, located in the northeast of the country. It is hoped that the success of this event, could lead to Thailand eventually hosting a ‘Formula 1’ race.

Best wishes from all of us at Asia World,
Stephen
