Dear Travel Partners,

Welcome to the May edition of our Asia World newsletter.

Over the past month we have experienced the hottest weather in Thailand for over 65 years, with temperatures over 40c most days. We advise visitors to be careful when hiking in northern Thailand and even when walking through the cities, as the heat is very overpowering and regular hydration is necessary.

As part of our ‘Green Message’ and our membership in GSTC (Global Sustainable Tourism Council) we would like to offer a unique eco-friendly hotel in the Northern Highlands of Vietnam The impressive ‘Topas Eco Lodge’ was developed with sustainable tourism in mind and is located in the north-western town of Sapa. Surrounded by lush paddy fields, green forests and local villages, the lodge sits on a hilltop, deep inside the Sapa Valley with heating provided by solar energy during winter months. Please contact Asia World for more information and rates.
I will be attending the ILTM (International Luxury Travel Mart) in Shanghai from 30 May until 02 June. This event will showcase luxury travel providers from around Asia and is now in its 10th year. Asia World will be offering our new range of unique ‘Experiential Travel’ options during ILTM and if you would like to know more about these products please contact productmgr@asiaworld-travel.com.

Lastly, a visit to Laos during May is a great opportunity to experience the famous ‘Rocket Festival’. Some of the wild festivities throughout the country include music, dance and street processions, plus the firing of home-made rockets into the air. These rockets are fired to tempt the gods to produce rainfall needed for rice cultivation. The explosions are thought to send the Naga (serpents) from the river banks into the rice fields to help attract rain.

Best Wishes from all of us at Asia World
