Managing Director's Blog, January 2016

Dear Travel Partners,

Happy New Year to you all (or 'Sawasdee Pi Mai') and welcome to the January edition of our Asia World Newsletter.

There have been some recent negative incidents with Thailand tours involving animals. As I mentioned in previous blogs, we strongly recommend that all of our partners do not offer tours involving wild animals, such as the Tiger parks and these will not be featured in our future tariffs. However Asia World will still offer tours to ethical elephant parks and these will be closely monitored.

As part of our sustainable tourism initiatives, Asia World has recently joined 'The Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC)', which establishes and manages global sustainable standards with the aim of increasing sustainable tourism knowledge and practices among hotels and tour operators.

Lastly, we will be attending the Asian Travel Forum (ATF) from 20-22 January, in Manila and hope to meet many of you there. The Philippines is one of Asia World’s newest destinations and our managing partner, Cathy Sallas, is eager to showcase her wonderful country at this important travel show

Best Wishes
