Welcome to the April edition of our Asia World monthly newsletter.

Firstly, thank you for all of our partners who met with me at the ‘ITB Travel show’ in Berlin last month - a very worthwhile show as always.

We will enjoy the Thai ‘Songkran Water Festival’ New Year celebrations, from 15-17 April and tourists will be flocking to venues such as Khao San Road in Bangkok. Other neighboring countries will be holding their own water festivals to celebrate the Buddhist New Year including ‘The CholChnamThmay Water Festival’ (Cambodia) from 14-16 April, ‘Thingyan Festival’ (Myanmar) from 13-16 April and Bunpimay Festival (Laos) from 13-15 April. Tourists should be prepared for a good-natured dousing.

The annual burning of stubble from paddy fields and sugar cane plantations, causes haze in Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai every March-April, but this year has been worse than usual. Asia World have recently sent a report to our partners advising that the air quality is very poor at the moment and that protective masks should be worn when walking in affected areas. The situation is expected to improve over the next 10 days.

Hotel of the month is the award winning luxury ‘Kupu Kupu Phangan Beach Villas’ on Koh Phangan island in Thailand’s south. The resort offers amazing sunset views over the gulf of Thailand and features stylish villa accommodation.

Lastly, Vietnam was voted ‘Asia’s Best Golf Destination 2018’ by the World Golf Awards. This was the second consecutive year it had earned the title. The ‘Ba Na Hill Golf Club’ in central Da Nang City was awarded the title of “Asia’s Best Golf Course”. Asia World Vietnam can arrange golf tours for your clients and non-golfer options also.
